Somatic Experiencing aims to renegotiate the impact that trauma has on a patient when residing in their body and central nervous system.
Camden Center’s Somatic Experiencing therapists lead patients through a verbal exploration and education of their perceived body sensations and self-protective strategies that are products of trauma.
The ultimate goal is to teach patients to regain the agency, power, and choice to reintegrate past traumatic experiences into their sense of self and, as a result, reinforce their ability to self-regulate when experiencing emotional distress or PTSD.
