John Sorrell, PhD, received his Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from West Virginia University. He completed his predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System and the VA San Diego Health Care System, respectively, specializing broadly in behavioral medicine with an emphasis in chronic pain management.

Dr. Sorrell is the founder of the Chronic Pain Psychology Center in San Francisco, and worked as part of the interdisciplinary team at the Stanford University Medical Center Pain Management Center. He previously worked at the San Mateo Medical Center, providing clinical care to HIV patients with chronic pain and assisting in the design and institution of the Chronic Pain Management Clinic.

At Camden Center, Dr. Sorrell uses cognitive behavioral and acceptance and commitment therapies to help patients with chronic pain and pain-related anxiety reduce their emotional distress and their suffering.
